PSA & The Freakiness of a Ring Avulsion

The day began like any other Saturday, the twins were eager to go out and so was I. It's been a very cold winter and we are just starting to see the first signs of spring.

We went to a farm and then a playground. I only wore my wedding band to drop hints to 'someone' of our upcoming 5th wedding anniversary and my wish for a new ring...be careful what you wish for.

One of our twins was on a swing being pushed by her dad, while the other (more adventurous) wanted to go down the BIG girl slide! I've done this a hundred times, but this day was different. We were at a new park and it rained overnight, as. I walked my 2 year old up the slide steps, I asked her to wait then raced down the ladder to catch her at the bottom of the slide. I slipped, my ring finger got caught by some mysterious force, and I felt a 'pop', I looked at my hand and saw the bone peeking through, above my wedding band. I didn't scream, perhaps I was in shock, I simply motioned to my husband we had to leave now! He drove us to the hospital where I was stitched up and sent home after a shot and dose of antibiotics. It never hurt except while I was being treated. Thankfully I'm doing well and had no permanent damage.

Word to the wise, don't wear rings to the playground!
