Preparing for Halloween doesn’t need to be complicated or stressful, our toddler doesn’t care what her costume will be yet for Halloween, mostly she’s excited about the candy and the few decorations we put up in our home.
While visiting my aunt one day she surprised our daughter with a Trader Joe’s Haunted House Chocolate Cookie Kit.
It took some convincing but I got the baby to agree to wait until we get home to assemble the cookie house. Everything in the box is sealed in a plastic bag; assembly was very simple. There is a base, four walls, and two pieces for the roof, it even has a little ghost shaped cookie.
My daughter is only 3 ½ so unless your child is older and more patient maybe assemble the house beforehand because the instructions suggest to wait before putting on the decorations. I didn’t realize this and while I was busy assembling the house with the provided icing packs my little one opened up a bag of the decorations and little candy pearls spread all over the floor. They were easy to pick up and toss out, but that is why I suggest assembling the house before and just letting your child decorate.
Apart from that, she had tons of fun decorating. The icing pack was difficult for her to squeeze but with a little help from Mom, she did great! It’s also a lot of fun to eat, although I discovered she’s not a fan of jelly beans :)
