I have so much fun doing crafts with my young daughter, Emma. This time we made simple snowflakes out of silver foil sticks. I found the silver sticks at my local Dollar Tree store, if you don't have one nearby check out their link The Dollar Tree
These were really fun to make for me and Emma, just remember not to stress the way to make them to your little one or they may get frustrated - lesson learned. ;)
I let my daughter cut the foil sticks to smaller pieces (while supervising her of course), then make smaller pieces to cross over your snowflake X. I told my daughter any shape is great because every snowflake in nature is unique. By the end of craft time she started explaining to me how to make them, I think her directions were clearer than mine :)
I loved how hers came out and we hung it on our Christmas tree. I got a little ambitious and made a cute christmas caribou (pictured below). Honestly I'm not sure if it's a reindeer, elk or what but it's a cute little 2D animal with curly horns which my kid liked a lot and ran to the tree to hang it.
This craft session was a good reminder when making something by hand it doesn't have to be perfect as long as it's perfectly fun. I think when hand making items I sometimes forget to just enjoy it, and that at times the uniqueness of a piece can be lost if you only strive for perfection.
