Been a Long Year

Updated: Oct 11, 2020

Hi to all my friends out there! This pandemic has been so challenging for so many around the world, so many of you had lost someone or went through the fear of a loved one being ill. Our own family lost a loved one as well but so thankful for everyone in our lives.

Uncertainty is a part of life but particularly with this virus you just never know what's around the corner.

Positive things have also happened in 2020 and I'd like to focus on those. I gave birth to our second daughter in January, she's been a joy and our older one adores her baby sister (most of the time). I was furloughed from my job in the beginning of the summer but the silver lining was that it gave time for my husband and our two girls to spend time together, with our first daughter I had to return to work after three months. Our newborn is now 9.5 months old. :) Another good thing that came out of being on furlough is that we were able to relocate. We decided to make a big move and leave NYC. This was a big step for us all. We moved to Charlott, NC.

I had never lived outside of Brooklyn and didn't have a job lined up, just a maybe from my employers of almost 20 years. The pandemic effects to personal and professional lives vary widely, the company was seeing losses and earlierthis month was my last day. Thankfully my husband got a job, it's amazing transition for all of is, he had been the stay at home parent to our first child for 5 years and put his career on hold, now he can start again and it's my turn to spend some time with the kids.

I love where I'm from, NY was pretty nice and fun but there's a lot I don't miss. Unnecessarily long commute because we couldn't afford anything close to the city, honestly I never really realized how dirty the city was because I hadn't been many other cities and I think you just get used to it. I definitely don't miss going on the subway, let alone when I was 9months pregnant. I won't miss the freezing winter, although I haven't experienced a NC winter yet. Plus people are pretty nice here in the Queen City, I keep feeling like I'm unfriendly but I haven't let my guard down yet, not sure if I will, maybe that's just me.

I am trying now to think of ideas for Halloween, I want our kid to have fun but be safe as possible, there's boo at the zoo but a little far, should be a good event, we used to go to one at bronx zoo in ny and they have one at NC Zoo too.

School- a big change like many our first grader is solely remote, we are keeping her in that as we have the option and will continue for now as we have a baby at home.

That's all for now, new city, new baby, new job
