Now that spring has arrived if you are looking for fun activities for the kids in NYC, here are a few ideas.
Aviator Sports Complex, perfect for children and fun for adults too. Aviator has just about every sport you could want, if your child really enjoys one activity you can sign them up for classes, prices are about average for NY, and the instruction they get is great. We recently booked one of their birthday party packages for our daughter and had a nice time, there were a couple of minor details where I wish I saw more for our money but the attendants were nice and the kids had a great time. I felt the decorations were skimpy; there was not a sign on the door to tell other customers that there was a party so it made one or two awkward moments, but overall I liked it. If I book there, again I may be more specific in my requests of what I expect.
Industry City, always something going on here and they have a great food court. You may not know but different vendors sometimes provide workshops for kids. In the beginning of the year they offered a gardening workshop for kids, we really wanted to bring our daughter but were not able to make it, sounded great though. In April, they will have an egg hunt event and other activities. It is always good to check their online calendar to see what is new.
WTC Fridays, Smorgasburg beginning April 12th will be outside the Oculus. For those that don’t know it’s a food vendor pop-up full of delicious eats, sweets, and smells. Personally, my husband can’t wait for this one.
Cherry Blossoms, pack a picnic, take your allergy medicine and go out to enjoy viewing the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossoms, there are events all over the city for this. Last year we went to Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens; this will be on April 20th, and it is great, it’s free, and you can walk and hear drumming, there are Japanese traditional dances, and a tea ceremony that you can take part in. It really is something special to behold.
A nice site I tend to check and where I found some of these ideas is https://mommypoppins.com/events?area%5B%5D=118 always good family events listed.
